Hi,
I’m Katya a.k.a By-a-woman – a writer in the making, who discovered the healing power in sharing everyday stories. These narratives give us an avenue to explore our humanity and a chance to navigate life together. I started by sharing my own stories, which I still do, as I reach out to finding and sharing the voices of others. My interests lie in areas of development and the related storytelling on love, loss and belonging. My philosophy is that the greatest wisdom comes from lived experiences.

I have worked with the amazing Ojwok, and other African photographers, to capture compelling images of everyday people. Ojwok believes that in photography there is a reality so subtle that it becomes more real than reality. “Photography for me is not looking, it’s feeling. If you can’t feel what you’re looking at, then you’re never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures,” he says. See more of his work on ojwokphotography.
